Orly Velvet Dream Collection Swatches and Review

4:30 PM
Orly has been a polish brand I have been meaning to get more into, so I was super excited to see this mini quad at my local TJ Maxx! This is their Fall Velvet Dream Collection, which came out for fall/winter 2017.

My thoughts on the Orly Velvet Dream Collection

Hello Lovelies! I was pumped to pick up this quad, from the Orly Velvet Dream Collection. I may be a little late to the game, but I still think these colors are perfect for transitioning into spring (and they are office appropriate!)

Orly is a vegan and 12-Free Nail Lacquer and it is definitely a brand I want to explore more in 2018.

Now onto the swatches...

NOVEMBER FOG | This very cool-toned lavender is probably my favorite in collection. I love that this tone is the perfect transition from winter to spring. This was 3 coats for full opacity.

SILKEN QUARTZ | This is a peachy-nude shimmer, that I fully expected would be a huge pain in the butt to work with. However, I loved this shade, and while you could see some visible streaks, they didn't look that bad since the color was so light. This was 3 coats, but if you have shorter nails, or a less harsh nail line, you could get away with 2.

BLACK CHERRY | Black Cherry creme is the best way to describe this color. This is the perfect balance between red and purple, and not too bright like these colors tend to be. This is a crelly formula, which means this did take 3 coats, but I think the super shiny finish makes up for it.

VELVET KALEIDOSCOPE | This is one of the most beautiful multi-chrome, flakie toppers I have seen in a while. Velvet kaleidoscope shifts between maroon, pink, red, orange and olive green, and is just straight up gorgeous. It's best work as a topper, and I have layered it over 'Black Cherry' on my middle finger and pinky, and then swatched it over an almost black 'Blake' from the Zoya Party Girls Collection on my pointer and ring fingers.

As you can see, there is no real difference, so as long as you top it over a darker polish, you'll get the intended effect.

Final Thoughts on the Orly Velvet Dream Collection

Although this was not the whole collection, I have to say I am impressed with the Orly colors and formula. I will try to pick up as many of the upcoming collections as my budget allows!

I loved all of these colors, and even though they each took 3 coats, I think the color pay off was worth it
